Rose Potcova Szoke died at age 95 in December, 2023. Rose grew up in Monroe, MI. She received her BBA in 1950 and was one of only six women in her class. She had one professor ask why she was taking a spot in a class that should have been given to a man. Rose was a trailblazer! She had an early career in business and fashion, with positions at major retailers in the Detroit Area. Rose received a masters in Education from Buffalo State and taught fashion merchandising at a local college. She and her husband retired to New Mexico. She is missed by her family and friends and remembered as a real pioneer for women in business.

Sri Maddipati, MBA '08; CMS Energy in Jackson, Mich., and its principal subsidiary, Consumers Energy, announced Sri Maddipati is replacing Tim Sparks as Vice President of electric supply. Maddipati is responsible for electric supply operations, generation engineering, and electric supply strategy. “Sri brings extensive knowledge of energy markets, our regulatory construct, and strong financial and business acumen,” says Tonya Berry, Senior Vice President of transformation and engineering at CMS. “I look forward to his expertise as we continue leading the company’s clean energy transformation and implement the new energy law in Michigan within our electric supply function.” Maddipati joined CMS Energy in 2014 and previously served as treasurer, vice president of finance and investor relations. He also chaired the benefit administration committee, which is responsible for managing employee benefit plan investments. He earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Peggy Carroll, MBA '78; After a 3 month retirement, I decided that was not the life for me. I had always had an interest in real estate and was recruited by Elizabeth Brien to become the first member of her team. During the interview process, I was asked how long I would remain in real estate. I said five years; this was in 2003 and here I am having just begun year 21! [EST 01.2024]
Paul Hoge, BBA '81; I was recently recognized by two business publications for my career in the commercial real estate industry. In September 2023, I was recognized in Globe Street’s national publication, Real Estate Forum as an influencer. Sam Barnes, MBA '15; was named President & CEO of Middough Inc. Middough is a premier provider of engineering project solutions, architecture, procurement and construction management services. Industries served include agribusiness, chemicals, food, metals, oil & gas, refining, pharma-bio, and power. Pushpa Vijayaraghavan (MBA '11); has been appointed as Governance Board Member of the Medicines Patent Pool, a UN founded body that stewards voluntary licenses and technology transfer for wider access to drugs, vaccines & healthcare products in LMIC. Santhi Suryanarayanan Ramesh (MBA '02); has been recruited to Wells Enterprises, the ice cream division of The Ferrero Group in North America, to run the commercial P&L by leading and integrating sales, marketing, innovation, strategy and insights for a portfolio of iconic brands. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, she will be responsible for amplifying brand equity, championing strategic partnerships, accelerating sales and building future-forward capabilities to deliver sustainable profitable growth. Mark Lezotte (BBA '78) (JD '81); was recently appointed Chair of the Board of Directors of SourceAmerica, a national nonprofit organization that connects the federal government and a national network of more than 350 AbilityOne authorized providers, who hire and place people with disabilities. He has served on the SourceAmerica Board of Directors since 2013. Lezotte is a shareholder in the Butzel law firm's Detroit office. [Est 10.2023]
Wayne (Waymin) Hsu, MBA ‘96; China Development Financial Holding Co (TSE : 2883 TT) announced the appointment of Wayne Hsu as the President of KGI Bank, its wholly-owned subsidiary, effective October 12, 2023. Wayne joined KGI Bank from CTBC Bank where he was the Chief Executive Officer of its Singapore Branch and concurrently as the Global Head of Financial Institutions. [Est. 10.2023]
Roger H. Williams, III, MBA '85; died February 2023, in New York City. He worked in risk management at a number of major financial service firms. Largely self-taught in advanced mathematics and statistical analysis, in 2004, Roger invented and earned a U.S. Patent on an innovation business process product that simplified the risk management of mortgage-backed securities. In later years, he worked on developing his invention, and as a financial services risk and compliance consultant. A devotee of this adopted city of New York, Roger was known to his friends for his flashing yet under-the-radar wit, his gentlemanly generosity to others, especially the less fortunate, his incisive commentaries on financial markets and political economies, and his love of single malt whiskey. Roger was very proud of his association with University of Michigan and the Ross School, and often lauded the achievements of its scholars and athletes. He is survived by his sisters, Martha Williams Kirkley of Rochester, NY, and Cynthia Williams of Fall River, MA.
